I have just reviewed The Disappearing Male that premiered in November 2008 on CBC TV, a documentary that features two Windsor researchers who’ve studied the decline in the birth of male children in the Aamjiwnaang First Nation community located next to the infamous Chemical Valley, Canada’s largest concentration of petrochemical plants near Sarnia. The material is well done and thought-provoking – after all, contamination happens not only in such high-risk locations, but also through diet, use of cosmetics or lifestyle excesses. Documenting the subject I found this alarm signal from couple of years ago – some of you might recognize Dr. Steven Lamm, who has appeared as the house doctor on The View, author of The Hardness Factor and a popular lecturer and investigator for several sexual medicine studies. Unfortunately Dr. Lamm did not pursue this project further, but we have saved this first episode for its educational value and chose to publish it here “as is”.
